Half Way to the Holidays Party

HALF WAY TO THE HOLIDAYS PARTY:

A meeting of old 1970's Happy Hour Bar patrons, GBWC members, Elbows, and other leftover has-beens. Always half way to the holidays, about the second Sat. in December*, or 2 weeks before Christmas.

The Holidays Party at Shep's. It's the closest the GBWC has any more to a Crewunion, so join us in 2023 on Sat., Dec. 21, 2024, just before "It's 6:00, Bob" time!

2024/12/13:

Shep has posted the date for the Half Way to the Holidays Party at Shep's on Sixth in downtown Brainerd, Minnesota! It's Saturday, December 21, 2024. Be there by 6:00 for the famous "It's 6:00 Bob" call! Come and join the tradition that started in 2009, by a Grand Elbow named Wally somebody! The date is always the Saturday “half way” between Dec. 1st and Christmas or New Year's . Typically, the Second Saturday. No invitations will be sent, because we don't know who will come! Huh?

1st Annual: Sat., Dec. 12, 2009, Shep’s On Sixth, Brainerd, MN, TIME: Before “6:00 Bob” or so. This was Wally's brain fart.

2nd Annual: Sat., Dec. 11, 2010, same ol’ place and time

3rd Annual: Sat., Dec. 10, 2011, same ol’ place and time

4th Annual: Sat., Dec. 15, 2012, same ol’ place and time

5th Annual: Sat., Dec. 14, 2013, same ol’ place and time

6th Annual: Sat., Dec. 13, 2014, same ol’ place and time

7th Annual: Sat., Dec. 12, 2015, same ol’ place and time

8th Annual: Sat., Dec. 10, 2016, same ol’ place and time

9th Annual: Sat., Dec. 9, 2017, same ol’ place and time

10th Annual: Sat., Dec. 8, 2018, same ol’ place and time

11th Annual: Sat., Dec. 14, 2019, same ol’ place and time

12th Annual: Sat., Dec. 12, 2020, same ol’ place and time...CANCELLED due to COVID, but numbers continue anyway. We were there in spirit.

13th Annual: Sat., Dec. 11, 2021, same ol’ place and time

14th Annual: Sat., Dec. 10, 2022, same ol’ place and time.

15th Annual: Sat., Dec. 9, 2023, same ol’ place and time. (Posted 12/11/2022.)

16th Annual: Sat., Dec. 21, 2024, same ol’ place and time, but a week later* than usual. As of this year, Shep has assumed the arrangements of this event.

Let’s get the news out with Email, Facebook, Tweets, and airplane banners! There is no such email list, since there is no such list of people. If you are one who doesn’t get “down there” often, this would be a good time to see the old crew! Please get on the phone with some folks you know who might enjoy a bump with old friends.

Every year I hear from SOMEBODY that “they never heard of it…"nobody told ME!” This is why we have it on the SAME Sat. in the month* if possible, and call it the Half Way Party, so that at some point people should know that it is coming up. Maybe they can call the bar to confirm the date, or email one of us. One of these days, we should get a .com LOE website for this stuff. Here is one I have started:
